Although I grew up in the pilgrimage town of Mariazell in the Austrian region of Styria (Steiermark), it became clear to me at an early age that there must be more to the world of wine than the wine you drink at Mass! FIND OUT MOREWorking with wine has been at the forefront of my life for 20 years, mainly because of my personal perceptions of this world of indulgence. And it leads me to the same questions over and over again; the answers to which never seem to change.
I can't even imagine dealing with a product that doesn't have that impermanence. This means that there might always be an element of surprise. It is precisely this aspect which is man-made, which cannot be changed retrospectively, and which characterizes a natural product such as wine. That makes every day different. And that’s how I like things to be.
The fact that wine is the result of constantly changing conditions on the one hand and an ancient technique on the other. And although wine has been made for thousands of years, winemakers are still developing new methods and opening up previously unknown worlds of flavor with their products. That's what makes wine unique for me.
Success is looking back after several years of cooperation and seeing all the positive things you’ve achieved together. Knowing that a handshake is what counts, not a contract. For me, success is a bit like good wine: It is the sum of many aspects that all need to be perfectly balanced in order to feel good for everyone involved.
